Q: What year did Riverside Resort open?
A: The resort opened to the public in May 1927. It has proudly been run by a member of our family for nearly 100 years, making it one of the longest family-owned resorts in the state.

Q: What do I need to bring when staying in a cabin?
A: Our cabins are very well stocked with most everything you need, but here are a handful of items you’ll want to bring – along with your personal items and groceries, of course:

Q: What supplies are in the kitchen?
A: We have done our best to make sure all necessary supplies are in the kitchen when you arrive. This includes dishes, silverware, drinkware, pots, pans, coffee maker, ice cube trays, can opener, knives, wooden spoons, spatula, mixing bowls, pizza cutter, measuring cups, and a pitcher.

Q: Are there outdoor grills?
A: Yes. We have charcoal grills available for use on the ground a safe distance from the cabin. Grills may not be brought onto cabin decks.

Q: Do the cabins have air conditioning?
A: Yes, each cabin has its own A/C unit, which can be regulated by our guests.

Q: Does the resort have free WiFi?
A: Yes, we sure do! We also have free cable TV.

Q: Can I bring my pet?
A: We prefer that dogs be boarded or stay at home; however, arrangements can be made to bring people-friendly pets. Our pet policy, which can also be found on our Resort Policies page, is as follows: Please call for permission before bringing a pet to either a cabin or campsite. The pet fee is $35/day or $185/week. Pets must be kept quiet, well cleaned up after, and remain on a leash anytime they are outside. Pets are not allowed in the beach/swimming area at any time.

Q: Is there a swimming pool at the resort?
A: No, not on-site. However, we have a partnership with Riverside Inn hotel in nearby Cold Spring, and our guests are welcome to use their indoor pool and hot tub. The hotel is only 7 miles away and accessible by car OR boat!

Q: What watercraft and watersports rentals are available?
A: We have pontoons and rowboats that can be rented by registered and public guests. We also have kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, and paddleboards for registered guests to use! Q: Is there a swimming beach at the resort?
A: Yes, and it is very nice! We have a clean sandy beach with a designated area for swimming that includes a slide and a water mat for guests to play on. Pets are not allowed on the beach.

Q: How is the fishing?
A: The fishing on Cedar Island Lake and the greater Sauk River Chain of Lakes is top notch! Much of the time you can catch fish right from our docks. And of course there are some spots on the lake that we would be happy to point out if you are planning to venture out in a boat. Check out the 6 most common fish that are caught around the Resort.

Q: Does your resort have seasonal sites?
A: Yes! We have 41 seasonal RV and trailer sites on the property, and they are very popular. Visit our RV Park and Camping page to learn more.

Q: Are there full hookups at the overnight camping sites?
A: We do not have full hookups, but we do have electric sites in the additional camping areas. We also have rustic, wooded camping sites that do not have electricity.

Q: Is tent camping available?
A: Tent campers enjoy our wooded camping area. Stearns County does not allow tents near the cabins or outside of designated camping areas.

Q: Is there additional parking?
A: Most cabins are able to accommodate up to two cars right at the cabin. Each RV site has one parking spot. Additional cars can be parked in our trailer parking area. To view and/or download a copy of our resort map, click here.

Q: What onsite activities do you have at the resort?
A: We have lots of great activities for our guests to enjoy, such as swimming, a variety of boating and watersports options, frisbee golf, family craft times, a game room, basketball, volleyball, bean bag tournaments, movie nights, and more. Check out our Resort Amenities page for a complete list.

Q: Are their hiking/biking trails nearby?
A: Yes! Rich Spring Golf Club is only 4 miles away in Cold Spring. In fact, we even have discounted golf certificates for all of our guests! Make sure to ask us about it during your next stay.

Q: Is there an on-site restaurant at the resort?
A: No; however, we do have a store on-site where you can purchase some simple grocery items, including candy and ice cream. There are several restaurants to choose from right down the street in Richmond or nearby Cold Spring.

A: We are approximately 95 miles northwest from the Minneapolis-St.Paul International Airport and only 30 miles southwest from the St. Cloud Airport.

Q: What are your reservation policies?
A: Specific details about reservations can be found on our Resort Policies page. We do require an advanced deposit on all reservations. Once the reservation is final, guests are responsible for their whole stay.
